Our journey

Our journey all began with one question - why should customers have to compromise and buy a general one-stop-shop, or a number of different specialists to meet all their travel and event needs? We knew business travel could be made simpler and smarter, and this is our journey about how we achieved it:

  1. Expotel was founded as a hotel reservations agency.

  2. Londsdale Travel was founded in Derby as a corporate travel management agency.

  3. Booking Services International (BSI) founded as a hotel reservations agency.

  4. Venues Event Management founded, booking corporate hotel accommodation before growing to
    an events organisation with over 100 employees.

  5. Capita plc acquires travel management company Lonsdale Travel.

  6. Capita plc acquires rail technology specialist Evolvi, and Harry Weeks. 

    Lonsdale Travel rebrands as Capita Business Travel.

    8th largest TMC in the UK

  7. Expotel Group acquires specialist conference and event management services agency - Venues Event Management.

    Capita plc acquires hotel, meeting and events specialist BSI.

    £355m turnover
    6th largest TMC in the UK

  8. Capita plc acquires Expotel Group Limited with subsidiaries including Venues Event Management, creating one of the
    UK's largest travel, meetings and event management companies.

  9. Capita Travel and Events Limited is formed, legally replacing Capita Business Travel.

  10. All companies become one brand, to form a powerful travel, meetings and events
    specialist business - Capita Travel and Events.

  11. Capita plc acquires events, meetings and business travel specialists, NYS Corporate Ltd.
